Seri Iskandar MTB Exploration 2010


Seri Iskandar MTB Exploration 2010 was held on 21st February 2010 at Dataran SIDEC, Seri Iskandar. This event was organized by Kelab Basikal Rekreasi Seri Iskandar in collaboration with Sekretariat Rakan Muda UTP. In this event, 20 committee members representing Sekretariat Rakan Muda UTP provided a hand in terms of goodies packing, “pacak”, participants registration on 20th and 21st February, in charge of giving stickers at Checkpoint 1 and Checkpoint 5 as well in the closing ceremony.

The objectives of this event are to cultivate a healthy lifestyle among Seri Iskandar Residents as well as to promote Bandar Seri Iskandar. This event was widely promoted via http://simtbexploration.blogspot.com. We received good response from bicycle clubs all over Malaysia as well as individual participants. There were 785 participants that took part in this event; not only Malaysians but also from Singapore, Japan, Republic of Zimbabwe as well as Republic of Chad. Participants ranged from 10 to 76 years old. All participants have to go through five checkpoints in order to complete their journey. Pintu 3, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS is the last checkpoint. Participants have to go through a lot of obstacles in their journey such as timber, Palm Oil plantation area and many more.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Datuk Mukhriz bin Tun Mahathir at 12.30pm. The coveted Yellow jersey was reserved for the first three riders that managed to complete five checkpoints for both Male and Female categories. Datuk Mukhriz was surprised seeing one of the participants having an “iron-leg”. A special t-shirt was presented to him by Datuk Mukhriz himself. Event was adjourned at 2.30pm.

EMS 2010

The Event Management Seminar is a two-day programme that was held on 20-21st February 2010. The main objective of this event is to produce high quality leaders who are able to handle effectively an event with the useful knowledge exposed through EMS. In other words, participants will have a brief exposure on all the process and procedures involved in organizing an event. Besides, the participants will also learn the formal ways when dealing with corporate personnel .The seminar was participated by 210 participants from UTP, and 58 participants from IPTA/IPTS around Perak. Every student body and club in UTP have sent their reprentatives to the seminar, including Sekretariat Rakan Muda( SRM) which was represented by Mohd Zulhelmi b. Samsudin, Raja Hamizah binti Raja Bongsu, and Aiman Fitri b. Zainal Abidin.


The main topics that were discussed during the seminar are Successful Proposal Writing, Committee Organization and Activity Planning, Ceremony and Protocol and Effective Communication Skills. On the first day, the first module conducted was Successful Proposal Writing that was delivered by Mr Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom, Director of Student Services. The point that was highlighted by him was a good proposal must be have clear and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Accurate, Realistic and Time Bound) objectives. Then, the second module is Committee Organization and Activity Planning that was handled by Mohd Fadhilah and Hazim b. Idris. The module is intended to give guidelines to the students to plan activities before, during and after the event and to give awareness on the importance of having a clear job scope for every committee. On the second day, a talk on ceremony and protocol was given by Pn Suhana. Protocol is a rule of correct or appropriate behaviour in a group, organization and profession. In an event or ceremony that is attended by VIPs, it is very important to have a good protocol so that the guest and audience feel comfortable and satisfied. It is also important so that a good relationship between individuals, organisation and nations can be maintained. After lunch, a brief talk given by Project Manager of the event, Mrs.Nurfarahin Mahadi on tips to handle different kinds of people in an organizations, eg: stict boss, negative co-workers, and complaining committees etc.
